>> john: president biden about to speak and airs on monday two of his campaign swing out west he says anyone not paying attention to latino voters is "stupid" but he has some work to do >> despite what president biden might want us to believe, the latino community of arizona is really hurting due to inflation. >> and not focused on the issue is that matter that like economic stability, crime, public safety, supporting small businesses, reducing inflation, those actually impact hardworking latinos everyday. >> do you think the economy was
11:01 am
better under trump? >> absolutely i would say so say so. >> john: democrats take note of that i am john roberts in washington, sentiments are changing, sandra. >> sandra: very interesting, good to start another hour with you i'm sandra smith with you in new york this is america reports. polls show latino voters are drifting from the democrats and the border is a key issue of the swing state voters, the president is heading to texas area because of it tomorrow he will be fighting governor greg abbott's effort. >> we have in just moments. >> sandra: but alicia acuna live in chandler, arizona, for us where lisa is making an announcement? >> yes, center, president biden is here toto announce an $8.5 billion series of grants for intel to help boost production of semiconductors and chips. it also works to help boost his
11:02 am
standing with american voters when it comes to his work on the economy. last night he met with local latino leaders and community members to launch latinos con biden y harris he cannot afford to lose any support, as polling shows his support is slipping. >> you are a reason in large part iv donald trump. lets beat him again. i need you badly. i need the help, kemal and i desperately need help because looks, there are six or seven states it will come down to the toss-up states and this is one of them. >> the party chair i spoke with in this block. >> we are doing everything we can to talk to folks about the economic issues to talk about lowering the cost of prescription drugs and who is doing that.
11:03 am
>> in terms of the overall elector they found arizonans top three issues are the economy, election integrity, and immigration very registered voters trust form president trump or biden when it comes to economy and immigration and when you look at a hypothetical matchup trump beats biden by focal points with a margin of error of plus or monastery points but trump has an uphill climb too since in 2016 the g.o.p. has lost sediment seats and the governor's race and sandra at the president's had to take the stage in about 45 minutes. from arizona he heads to houston, sandra. >> sandra: alicia for us and breaking news? >> john: breaking on the federal reserve making in addition to leave interest rates unchanged. the biases toward leaving things the same until they get more economic debt, jerome powell will speak at 2:30, he may forecast a bit of what is to come in the year ahead but right now the fed is suggesting,
11:04 am
sandra, it wants a little more data before it figures out the way forward. >> sandra: indications from the fed in the statement are they are moving towards possibly three rate cuts this year, john, and that is interesting news break since we have not seen the target of 2% reached just yet so big questions in the fed briefing room when powell speaks, is 2% still the target? and if they are going to start cutting does not mean we are getting there? they say they are making good progress and they move it is the question so you see a green spike at the end of the chart there, that is after the fed announcement came out to leave fed rates unchanged but also indicating three cuts coming this year. one of the federal reserve officials indicated possibly more than three cuts this year
11:05 am
but this was a unanimous decision to leave it unchanged at five and a quarter. this is a decent market reaction and we will have mark on later to react. >> john: we will see if the market goes up or down. editor at large as a spectator let's talk about joe biden and hispanic or latino voters because he has been -- nevada and in arizona and this is audio only of what he said about donald trump's take on latino voters. >> literally several million people who are here in the country. several million people and he wants to the sedition. citizenship. he despises latinos and i understand latino values. >> john: that something a candidate in trouble. >> absolutely it does. we have seen so much of the shift in terms of the popularity of joe biden has been hispanic
11:06 am
voters and to some extent black voters moving away from him and supporting the idea of returning the former president donald trump to the white house again in large part i believe because of the failure of bi biden-omics the pain largely felt by working-class voters overrepresented in the terms of hispanic and black male population in particular. that is something i think the biden white house has been failing to address not just now but really for the past several years they haven't found their footing on this. i don't think joe biden when he says this line about he doesn't respect latinos, what they are doing i think is falling into the trap we have seen people fall into time and again which is trading current latino voters who have been here a long time, in many cases generations removed from immigration status and comparing them to current
11:07 am
immigrants are something of the lake that does not work politically and it has not worked in the past and i don't think it will work this time. >> john: you may wonder how much trouble is joe biden in with latino voters? check out this "new york times" poll from the beginning of the month, donald trump leads him no 46-40%. i mean if you are comparing this potentially to the 2004 ele election, let's say bush ran against john kerry, bush got about 4% of the lati vote with his second term. trump is at 46 which could mean victory. >> it really could end it would be an impressive performance considering the fact that everything we see from the democrat endorsing media, partisans on their side, saying trump is this hateful person who hates hispanics and latinos et cetera and yet when it comes down to it people don't believe that anymore. they don't see it. they are not buying that message
11:08 am
i think that shows the fact they have failed on the economic front is a lot more important to hispanic voters than any of the allegations that the you former president has any racial motive. >> john: a lot of them say hey it was historically low unemployment for both of those voting blocks. i want to ask you about reports. i won't ask you because i haven't read it yet but stephen breyer's new book the guy who refused to give in to pressure and step down from the supreme court is suggesting sonya should step down, there is a big article saying she has diabetes, she has health problems, she has to travel with the help of an assistant rather than risk a seat opening up on the liberal side of the court during the conservative administration and trump administration, resigned now so that biden gets a chance to accommodate or do justice. >> look, i think this is a desperate move, they tried it before obviously and i think it
11:09 am
is very unwise against any justice for any reason. they should be free to make their own decisions about the time to leave and i think it is particularly an unwise move and frankly conflicts with the message we just heard about removing a latino justice from the supreme court at this particular time. whatever the case may be, th though, this is certainly something that will plan to the conversation in november. the anticipation there could be a seat opening up in the next administration will definitely be on voters' minds. >> john: we saw what happened with ruth bader ginsburg, the more than push the more they dug in their heels, thank you. >> thank you very much. >> sandra: fox news alert back to the breaking news from a moment ago, the federal observe out with its interest rate decision and as expected, the fed leaves the key headline fed funds rate unchanged at 5.25%
11:10 am
and as this happened, we saw them move up in the stock market and we can report the dow and the s&p 500 are hitting an all-time high on that great decision and the fed broadcasting that it maintains its target of three rate cuts this year. that is an interesting development the federal reserve chairman jerome powell as he always does after an interest rate decision will give a press briefing at 2:30 p.m. eastern time, john, my envelope notes i have three q questions. 2%, that's the target the fed keeps saying that's the target, what is heading 2% is it for a day? for a month? six months? what is that look like and is that still the target or has some have suggested, made a move that up? how can we talk about rate cuts if we are still seeing fiscal spending happening right now in
11:11 am
massive amounts and more planned on the way these are some big questions for the federal reserve, we will look at that half past the hour, john? >> john: looks like the stock market is looking at you because they are dimming somewhat with the enthusiasm we will keep watching plus brutal slashing on a commuter train in the middle of the day, what is going on in new york city? we left new york robert and congresswoman nicole malliotakis after this. one: call newday and apply. two: take out an average of $70,000. three: pay off your credit cards pain was keeping me off my game. and now i'm winning again. blue-emu is the powerful relief i need. shop our expanded family of products at major online retailers. okay everyone, our mission is to provide complete, balanced nutrition for strength and energy. yay - woo hoo! ensure, with 27 vitamins and minerals,

11:16 am
there. let's bring in congresswoman nicole malliotakis, what is happening, congresswoman? >> new york is descending into chaos and lawlessness because of the policies put in place by the democrats. it is as clear as that. the bail law allowing repeat offenders to go on the street over and over again, they raise the age which is a gang recruitment act allowing individuals to go after young people and let them do their dirty work because they won't see the criminal charges that an adult wanted to, and then of course the sanctuary city policy which is protecting people in the country illegally from deportation even if they commit and are convicted of a crime. that is what is happening in new york and it is brought to us by the democratic party it's unfortunate and rudy giuliani spent so much time working so hard to clean up the streets of new york city and we have just seen it spiraling out of control since mayor bellagio came into office and really dismantled everything and it is being
11:17 am
further dismantled by this mayor. >> still this mayor insists in its the progress that is happening, though my. >> i think it's a disservice with these high-profile cases to erase the success that we have, that damages everything we have done. we have a safe system, we have a safe city and the safest big city in america and we are not going to allow high-profile incidents to hijack the success of the men and women who have put themselves on the line every day. >> sandra: "new york post" had a field day with that, congresswoman the headline "this is fine" obviously new yorkers say ey are unsafe you see this in poll after poll and also on the cover just 30% say the quality of life for them living in the city is good. that is a third of new yorkers paying a fortune to live here.
11:18 am
how much longer can this last as we continue to see this crime happening? >> that is right, you can't keep telling new yorkers they are safe when they are going on the subway and they see this type of activity or they are reading about these crimes in the paper on a regular basis. it's like a president telling everyone every thing is fine in the economy, that bidenomics works and they are struggling to pay their bills, as a result of their policies. the mayor can undo it today if he wants to or at least part of it by executive order and the other thing is we are down thousands of cops in new york city. we are down thousands of police officers about 6,000 or 7,000 then we were on the september 11th 2001, i'm really concerned with the president's open borders and his refusal to use authority to undo what he did that dismantled our border that terrorist attack can happen any time. it is because of a gun the
11:19 am
policies that have been put in place by the radical left because they are trying to satisfy a crazy base out there. >> sandra: if i can finish off with that because when i said you were coming up as we were showing our audience this video playing out i mean this is a recruiter railroad, people come and go all day, moms and dads coming in the city they live there because they can get to the city, they see this happening and it is scary stuff. but i said to our audience there is a solution. as you just said this can be fixed today. you had the year of the president, how do you do this? >> i told the president at the state of the union i pulled him aside and i said you need to secure the border because americans are dying. you need to use the same authority you used to undo the trump policies and secure the border, you need to put it back together and fix the border that you dismantled. the reality is we need a new president. i don't think this president will take any action on any bill we passed will give the president more discretion and is
11:20 am
useless because the president will not use the discretion he currently has to reinstate remain in mexico to end catch and release and make a difference and look who is committing crimes, many of them were given parole by the president by this administration to come into our company and come into our city that's what happened with individuals and police officers that's what i'm with the murder of blake and riley they were given parole by this president who changed the rules on his own, he can undo it but he won't. >> sandra: appreciating you joining us today, that is something to see that happening on that rail, thank you, john? >> john: yes, frightening for a lot of people. the measles making an alarming resurgence in the united states after more than a dozen states reported nearly 60 cases so far this year. it's already as many cases is the u.s. had an old 2023 and it is only march. let's bring dr. mark is a goal, let's put up a map, dock, 17

states, arizona, florida, louisiana, maryland, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new jerk new york, ohio, how serious is this, doctor? >> it's a serious, john, that afternoon and it's getting more serious and i will tell you why because a year ago there were 9 million measles cases in the world and the vaccination rate of having one shot is 83% worldwide. in europe it is 93%. those numbers may seem like they are high but when you have a virus that is conceived just as measles contagious as measles is number one for us for a virus it means it is seeking out those who are not vaccinated because the vaccine is almost 100% effective. now in the united states, we don't give our first dose until the child is at least one year old, so those under one year are at risk. how can i put these two things together? travelers, there is 45 times
11:22 am
more measles in europe than last year, 45,000 cases. and a lot of people are traveling from europe to hear. around the world, yemen number one at 20,000 cases, india about 20,000 cases, you can see how this works. they travel here and they are not screened. cdc screens immigrants coming here when they are coming here legally. as you know they have worked as the correspondent, they have a huge file on how you get screened if you come here legally. but if you come across those southern border from countries where maybe there is 85% fewer on the run you may not get vaccinated, that's why we are seeing the outbreak in chicago and other places for migrants are not vaccinated. >> you mention international travel to cdc reports 99% of the cases we are experiencing in the united states are among people who have recently traveled internationally. in terms of where the hot spots
11:23 am
are you mention yemen, probably some other hot spots as well, austria having an outbreak, the philippines, romania, the united kingdom. is that a suggestion, dock, you should not be traveling overseas unless you had the mmr vaccine? >> that's a really good point. in the office with my patients i do follow that rule and i will tell you something else i do, john. the cdc is not yet recommended i have talked to mandy: this head of the cdc about this multiple times. if someone is traveling to europe or one of these areas, i checked their immunization. if they are not immune to measles, it does wear off on some people, or it doesn't take on some people, i give a boo booster. if they can have a live virus vaccine i offered. i say you are traveling, may be, we don't know, how about a booster? i offer even not formally recommending that yet. >> john: i wonder how much of longer ago i got my mmr vaccine i may need a booster.
11:24 am
in vaccination rates, we are still very high. among kindergartens it's 93% but that is down two points from three years prior. what's the reason for the decline? >> one more point about that to get to herd immunity that magic number where you protect those who can't vaccine like pregnant women, immunocompromised, it has to be 96%, not 93% it's a magic number. why is the vaccination rate d down? it's because the anti-vax sentiment during the pandemic during the kofi cockburn vaccine largely political, some of it reasonable questions but it has spilled over to all of our vaccines now try to enter vaccines like the mmr vaccine have been around for decades, extremely safe, extremely effective at preventing the spread. >> john: herd immunity we haven't heard that for a while, dr. good to catch up with you. >> this is the real herd

years president biden in his administration been pursuing their costly and radical green new deal, which not only has lessened our energy security but has increased the cost for consumers across the country. >> john: senators coming from the policy lunch saying their support for israel remains steadfast, of course the senate minority leader mitch mccollum one of the first people who may possibly replace him after mcconnell steps down in november. sandra? >> sandra: a fox news alert as we have been looking forward to federal chair or reserve jerome powell has started his press conference after announcing the fed has decided to unanimously so leave the headline and fed funds rate unchanged. but the fed is expecting three rate cuts this year, three and 235, three and 2026 because they do see inflation coming down albeit slowly. we will monitor this for news and will bring anything from that to you as it happens, john?
11:34 am
>> john: back to our top story of the day the house oversight committee on influence peddling assumed to resume moments from now come the star witness hunter biden decided not to show up just months after he said he wants to testify in public. let's bring in florida congressman byron donalds, compelling tested stomach testimony today who was hunter biden's former business partner, let's listen to a little bit of what he said here. >> it is clear to me joe biden was the brand being sold by the biden family. and his family's former influence peddling operation from china to ukraine and elsewhere sold out the foreign actors who were seeking to gain influence and access to joe biden and the united states government. >> john: he also made compelling statements three and a half years ago on the sidelines of that loan debate in nashville. he did it again today but the needle has not moved appreciably on this case since he originally
11:35 am
said what he said. >> look, it is good to be with you, we have been able to bring in all the documentary evidence to support what mr. belinsky has said. he also testified in hearing today that he discredit everything jim biden sent under oath and what hunter biden said under oath and at the end of the day what was clearly proven by the testimony to this point is that joe biden did know about what was happening, he was involved in the business dealings and they really structured everything to give joe biden plausible deniability. they did not want joe biden on a text message or an email but he didn't meet with tony bobulinsky, he did meet with elaine about arena and they were extensive meetings, not just high matt, how is the weather the way jim biden and hunter biden like to portray. >> john: be that as it may, man, stomach, congressman,
11:36 am
where's the evidence of wrongdoing on the president's part and how long can you continue this investigation without that evidence? >> we will continue to get all the information. there is still financial records we have not been able to acquire we have subpoenaed and requested but we have not gotten those yet. look at what you have right now. we have hunter biden with an unregistered foreign agent overseas when joe biden was vice president of the united states. just that alone is joe biden allowing his son to be an unregistered or an agent in violation of federal law. you have the situation where the former vice president the current president allowed his son and his brother to represent interests abroad, paul manafort was thrown in just for that hunter biden they try to get him a slap on the wrist which was evident cherry piece number one. number two we have proven he has taken money from foreign sources
11:37 am
so his family acting as conduits for that money to conceal that fact from the american people. that is bribery from foreign sources. i think the question you are asking is what is the next step for the house? we will continue our separation to have all the evidence, we are not like the democrats we will not jump to an impeachment with no information and no fact. >> my question is where's the smoking gun and maybe we will see that. and this deals with us state of florida, ron desantis in an interview suggested transposition system is up and running in the sunshine state and if patients begin to land on florida shores en masse they may be quickly transported to other beaches in martha's vineyard. do you support that? >> i do. the fact of the matter is what is happening in haiti is yet another disaster of joe biden and his foreign policy. relates to the game, asleep at the wheel, not knowing what is going on, and catastrophe strikes.
11:38 am
the people of florida shall not be left with the burden of migrants coming from haiti because of joe biden's dereliction of his duty. that needs to be spread around the country if it's martha's vineyard, so be it. the biggest issue we are having is because of joe biden's reckless border policy we do not have room in the united states to take in people seeking asylum from haiti because of the actual catastrophe bear. joe biden let so many immigrants into the country without any real cause or reason though it is overwhelmed. this is joe biden's fault and so we need to make sure in florida it is protected. i agree with the governor and his stance. >> john: we keep watching because haiti is literally coming unglued and we expect we will see a lot of people trying to go out soon. thanks. >> thank you. >> sandra: look at arizona where president biden is expected to speak any moment now on his push to invest in

11:44 am
economists and author of "taxes have consequences" art, your reaction to the news? >> you know, i am surprised they are not trying to fight inflation a little harder but bottom line is they should not be trying to control interest rates, they just shouldn't, sandra. they should follow interest rates, not leave them just the way that volcker did, trying to control it and it makes them politically suspect. if they did three cuts this year, i mean most people would think that's a political gesture trying to get biden reelected. i am sure they don't believe that is to be the case but that is the way it looks and that is unfortunately something the feds should not do. >> sandra: tell me what you were seeing that would indicate they are controlling rather than following it while i give you some more headlines as the federal reserve chair as you saw a moment ago is right now briefing and is taking questions from reporters.
11:45 am
they decided to keep rates unchanged right now for various reasons. that was a unanimous decision. they said economic activities expanding at a solid pace and moderated but remained strong, they are still seeking the 2% target over the long run and while they say the economic outlook is uncertain, it remains attentive to inflation risks. so, read into that, art -- i don't >> sandra: they say they will watch the labor market, inflation, but they keep saying 2% firm that we have to reach that 2% t. we are not there yet, so how are they so sure they are going to be able to cut in this environment so fast? >> they aren't even close to the 2%. they just plain aren't. the latest numbers be it cpi or cpi corps or the producer's price a index they'll show an
11:46 am
uptick in inflation if you look carefully, there is no reason to believe inflation is under control, it just plain isn't. they tell us what they will do in the future when in fact we haven't gotten the latest price data that would show a downdraft in the inflation rate, it is not there. i think they are just wishful thinking to be honest. the economy as far as they are concerned is pretty good but we still had very, very low employment, and we have high prices i mean it's almost 18% since biden is in office, interest rate is above 2% is the target, if you compare the tr trump. period that period was far, far better and i don't understand the logic or what they are doing it doesn't make sense to me. >> sandra: i would be curious to see what he says about that 2% target in this briefing. he will obviously have questions but we will see if he makes any news on that. may be they move it.
11:47 am
we have heard from some democrats they are urging the federal reserve to move the target up with a warning from steve moore and others we have had, be careful because prices will never come down. if we learn to just adjust to the high prices, we will never see prices go back to those levels. this was jerry baker and he had a very interesting prediction of the top of the 1:00 hour on this program. about rate changes, listen. >> market is still expecting that to be some interest rate cuts later this year but inflation is resilient, it's still around 3%, i think there's a growing chance we will not see rate cuts, we may even see an increase. >> sandra: that would be different. >> that would be different. that would really be different. i mean, he is right, completely correct, inflation numbers are not showing any type of drop so far. they are very resilient and in fact there are some signs they are going up again ever so slightly but they are going up again. in their own model which is not a model i agree with it all,
11:48 am
